HDC MidAtlantic to honor Delaware housing exec as Housing Advocate of the Year

James Peffley is the first recipient of the award from outside Pennsylvania.

Housing Development Corporation MidAtlantic President Michael R. Carper announced today that the nonprofit will name James Peffley its 2015 Housing Advocate of the Year at HDC’s Faces of Affordable Housing banquet in April.

The banquet will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday, April 16, at the Lancaster Marriott at Penn Square in Lancaster, Pa.

“We have honored housing advocates for many years, all of them in Pennsylvania,” Carper said. “This is the first time we have honored someone from another state, and I am pleased that HDC can work with someone of Jim’s caliber in Delaware to advance the cause of affordable housing.”

Peffley is President & CEO of the Delaware Community Investment Corporation (DCIC) and executive vice president of Cinnaire (Cinnaire). He also spent more than a decade with the Delaware State Housing Authority as a senior manager working in the areas of single family and multifamily finance, and has extensive lending, credit, compliance and asset management experience. Peffley has advised many nonprofit organizations and currently serves on the boards of the Delaware Housing Coalition and the National Association of State and Local Equity Funds.

“Every year, we recognize and honor someone who has made significant contributions to affordable housing, and James Peffley has broken ground in the industry,” Carper said. “His experience at the national level and relationships with industry leaders has improved affordable housing in Delaware and ensured that people who need housing can get it.”

Previous recipients of HDC MidAtlantic’s Housing Advocate of the Year are:

  • Dale Gravett, executive director of the Housing Authority of the County of Chester, West Chester Pa.
