Michael J. Taylor is a retired senior executive with PNC Bank and National City Bank, its predecessor organization. His recent roles with the company prior to retirement in June 2023 included Sr. Vice President, Midwest Territory Executive and President of the National City Community Development Corporation which is the first Community Development Corporation founded by a financial service company. He is a visionary leader who led the Bank in creating innovative solutions to community and economic development opportunities across the country.
Among the most well-respected community development banking executives across the country, his leadership and vision has been a driving force behind many of the most catalytic neighborhood efforts in Cleveland, Detroit, Grand Rapids, Chicago, St. Louis, and throughout the Midwest. This includes his leadership in strategically providing lending capital, philanthropic support, and the deployment of tax credits and other investments across these great cities, that today serve as vibrant hubs for arts, entertainment, and residential development.
He has been a leading voice in advocating for and successfully executing lending and investments in support of affordable housing, workforce reentry initiatives, as well as social justice efforts that address longstanding economic and racial disparities.
He has demonstrated his longstanding commitment to the community through active engagement in community infrastructure projects, including his past role as co-chair of the Opportunity Corridor Steering Committee, a civic group that guided the $331 million Opportunity Corridor project in Cleveland, OH. The Opportunity Corridor is a 3-mile boulevard that connects neighborhoods and improves transportation and economic development in the “Forgotten Triangle,” a historically under-served area of Cleveland. He also played a critical role in the vision and creation of PNC Fairfax Connection, a free community resource center that is owned and operated by PNC Bank. It provides Cleveland area residents with free programs in areas such as financial and early childhood education, workforce development, and health and wellness.
Michael J. Taylor is a graduate of Central Michigan University with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and a Master of Science in Administration. He currently serves as Vice Chairman of the Board of Cinnaire Corporation, and Treasurer of the North Coast Waterfront Development Corporation, a not-for-profit entity that will assist the City of Cleveland with the equitable development of the North Coast Lakefront. Past professional activities include Board of Trustee, International Economic Development Council (IEDC), Past Chairman of Village Capital Corporation, Board of Directors-Cleveland Development Advisors, Children’s Defense Fund-Ohio, Michigan Higher Education Assistance Authority, and the Corporate Visiting Committee, Case Western Reserve University.
