Cinnaire Named a 2018 “Cool Place to Work”

For the fifth straight year, Cinnaire has been named one of Crain’s Detroit Business Cool Places to Work in Michigan. Cinnaire is rated #49 out of 100 organizations on the 2018 Cool Places List.

The Cool Places to Work list is a statewide survey created in 2012 and compiled annually by Crain’s and Best Companies GroupIt was designed to identify, recognize and honor the best places of employment in Michigan, benefiting the state’s economy, its workforce and businesses. It is a voluntary competition open to Michigan businesses, nonprofits and government entities with at least 15 employees in Michigan. The process is extensive – the employer provides detailed information on benefits and perks and employees answer questions about work environment and company leadership in a confidential survey. The employee assessments represent 75% of the final ranking.

Cinnaire provides full-time employees with a number of unique benefits including unlimited paid time off, weekly organic fresh fruit deliveries, an employee wellness program, an on-site fitness center in the Lansing headquarters, company paid cell phone service, onsite dry-cleaning pickup and delivery and a comprehensive benefits package. An open-door policy and regularly scheduled lunches with the CEO promote transparency and open communication. Various volunteer initiatives with company-paid volunteer time provides staff with opportunities for community giving and volunteering. Based on its culture of mentorship and training, Cinnaire was selected this year to host a student from the Detroit Revitalization Fellows, a program of Wayne State University.

Other features that earned Cinnaire a ranking on the Cool Places list were the Staff Engagement Committee which provides staff with an open forum for discussing ideas, promoting initiatives and sharing insights to improve the culture. The group share recommendations with management and executives. All staff attend an annual summit to prepare for the upcoming year. The summit is a time to form relationships with coworkers and enhance leadership skills.

Cinnaire Cares supports Urban Acres Produce, a Community-Owned Farm Stand that provides Local Delaware-Grown Produce

Cinnaire Cares is a staff funded, charitable program that was created and implemented by employees that provides each team member with the opportunity to make a collective impact by donating to staff-nominated charities nominated by employees and selected by the Staff Engagement Committee.

Cinnaire maintains a diversity and inclusion policy designed to provide an environment that empowers the authentic expression of diverse voices and celebrates a workforce that reflects the communities the company serves. Career opportunities are posted through diversity recruitment websites. The recruitment process includes steps to determine and ensure that candidates are a good fit for the culture. New employees participate in leadership training, attend cultural competency workshops and are given books that support the company culture. Cinnaire staff use the ZAPP process to internally acknowledge random acts of kindness and personal and professional accomplishments.
