Forty-Year Career Shaped Affordable Housing Industry
Jim Logue, Cinnaire’s longtime Chief Operating Officer and most recently, Chief Policy and Advocacy Officer, is retiring this month after 21 years of dedicated service to our organization. Jim’s career in the affordable housing industry spans more than 40 years, marked by tremendous impact on disinvested communities at national, state and local levels.
Cinnaire’s very existence and evolution over the past 30 years is a testament to Jim’s dedication to championing affordable housing and to addressing the lack of investor capital for affordable housing. His work at Cinnaire and the Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA), along with his advocacy work in Washington, D.C., have made him an icon in the industry across the nation. Jim’s legacy is not just a chapter; it’s a cornerstone of the affordable housing industry’s enduring progress. Jim has the rare gift of being able to blend conservatism with a huge heart to help people, demonstrating that effective leadership and compassion go hand in hand.
In 2023, Jim was inducted into the Affordable Housing Finance Housing Hall of Fame, recognized for his longstanding commitment to accessible and equitable housing. Before joining Cinnaire, Jim served for 12 years as the executive director of MSHDA. During his tenure there, he addressed Michigan’s unique challenges with distressed core cities as well as rural communities that had not experienced affordable housing development.
Jim’s career included significant positions; executive director of the New Jersey Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency, director of programs and policy at the National Council of State Housing Agencies (NCSHA), and deputy assistant secretary for multifamily housing programs at the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development in Washington, D.C. His contributions extend nationally; he served as president of NCSHA, chaired its best practices committee for the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit, and is widely recognized as an expert in affordable housing. His expertise led him to testify before Congress on housing policy and assist in the development of federal housing programs at the invitation of congressional members.
Jim’s departure marks the end of an era for Cinnaire, and we are immensely grateful for his visionary leadership and dedication. His legacy will continue to inspire and guide us as we move forward in our mission to advance economic equity and provide safe, affordable homes to underserved communities.
