Cinnaire has been recognized as one of the 2023 Best Nonprofits to Work For by the Nonprofit Times, the leading business publication for Nonprofit Management. This is the ninth time Cinnaire has been honored as one of the nation’s best nonprofits to work for.
The Nonprofit Times partners with Best Companies Group to conduct a survey of employees, managers, and external partners, designed to identify nonprofit organizations where leaders have excelled in creating quality workplaces. The survey and awards program recognizes and honors the best employers in the nonprofit industry, benefitting the industry’s economy, workforce, and business.
Nominated organizations are divided into three categories—Large, Medium and Small—based on number of employees. Cinnaire scored among the top 10 in the medium-size category.
“This year, Cinnaire celebrates its 30th anniversary,” said Mark McDaniel, Cinnaire President and CEO. “We began in 1993 with one office in a basement and have expanded since to more than 150 staff members in five states. During this period of significant growth and throughout the pandemic, we have been very intentional, providing a safe environment while ensuring opportunities for collaboration, professional development and mentorship. That is what makes receiving this honor so gratifying. Knowing that both our new employees and more tenured staff continue to feel engaged, valued and supported while remaining committed to our mission to transform communities.”
Selection of this year’s honorees was a months-long process. The NonProfit Times partnered with Best Companies Group to vet the organizations from where leaders submit applications to compete. Over a hundred data points were compiled based on 77 statements grouped into eight categories: Pay and Benefits; Training, Development and Resources; Corporate Culture and Communications; Leadership; Role Satisfaction; Work Environment; Overall Engagement; and Relationship with Supervisor.
Cinnaire provides above industry benefits, including unlimited personal time off, paid volunteer time, a profit-sharing plan, and a generous compensation package. In recent years they’ve added pet insurance and a free subscription to Calm, the #1 app for mental fitness. Cinnaire hosts a book club and companywide forums designed to foster and preserve a culture of diversity, inclusion, and equity. It also offers two Immersion Groups, where staff engage in deep dive discussions on leadership development skills and the principles outlined in the Speed of Trust. Team members collaborate through a variety of mission-driven service opportunities, volunteering at local community organization and donating to staff-nominated charities.
