Derrick Collins, Dean for the College of Business at Chicago State University, Joins Community Development Finance Institution Board
Lansing — Derrick Collins has joined Cinnaire’s Board of Directors. With an extensive career in finance, investment, and most recently, higher education, Derrick currently serves as the Dean for the College of Business at Chicago State University. Previously, he was Assistant Clinical Professor of Finance at Northwestern University’s J.L. Kellogg School of Management.
Derrick began his private equity career during his tenure at Shorebank Corporation, an Illinois bank holding company, while he served as President of its venture capital subsidiary, Shorebank Capital Corporation. While at Shorebank, Mr. Collins also served as a Commercial Loan Officer in the banking subsidiary, South Shore Bank. Derrick has also lectured extensively on the topic of venture capital, investing in entrepreneurial companies and minority entrepreneurship.

Derrick’s current and past board affiliations include Chicago Community Ventures, Adamation, Inc., BridgeStream, Inc., ViaNovus, Inc., and the National Association of Investment Companies, which serves the private equity community of the emerging domestic marketplace, and is co-founder and board member of the accelerated entrepreneurial program, the Runners’ Club.
Derrick earned his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Prairie View A&M University and his M.B.A. in Finance and Marketing from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
