Cinnaire is proud to announce The Meadows has been named the Wisconsin Council for Affordable and Rural Housing (WI-CARH) Property of the Year, an award recognizing outstanding affordable housing developments in Wisconsin. Nicole Solheim, Cinnaire Solutions Vice President, Development, joined our partners from Wisconsin Management Company to accept the award at the 25th Annual WI-CARH Conference. Cinnaire Solutions partnered with Southwestern Wisconsin Community Action Program (SWCAP) to develop the affordable housing development designed exclusively to support agricultural and farmworkers and their families.
“The Meadows exemplifies how collaborative efforts can bring groundbreaking, essential projects to life,” said Nicole Solheim. “In Lafayette County, where the thriving agricultural sector supports over half of local employment, this project has made a transformative impact for farmworkers and their families all while boosting economic resilience. The Meadows is more than just a place to live; it’s a foundation for stability, opportunity, and well-being for the hardworking farmers who support our communities. We are honored to be named the WI-CARH Property of the Year.”
The Meadows features 32 two- and three-bedroom units in two townhome style buildings. The unique community offers fully-appointed apartment homes with large closets, extra storage, spacious kitchen with all appliances and pantry, separate dining, and in-home washer and dryer. Given the large farmworker population in the region, SWCAP facilitates the Multicultural Outreach Program, a volunteer-led initiative that works with immigrant families, the majority of whom are Latinx farmworkers. Volunteers lead ESL courses and provide advocacy during landlord, employer or lender dispute. These resources are available in the community building at The Meadows. Residents also receive support and resources from SWCAP’s Farm Well Wisconsin program, which supports the mental health and wellbeing of Wisconsin farmers.
Cinnaire provided a $4.1 million Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) investment to support The Meadows. Key funding partners include USDA Rural Development, the Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority (WHEDA), the Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago (FHLBank Chicago), United Migrant Opportunity Services (UMOS) and the Wisconsin Department of Administration. Property management services are provided by Wisconsin Management Company.
As the in-house development affiliate of Cinnaire, Cinnaire Solutions brings to the table a wealth of experience, real estate connections, and financial resources to help less-experienced partners bring their visions to life. SWCAP is a catalyst for building communities of hope, inclusion, and social justice, where poverty is overcome, and all people are empowered and thrive.
