EJ Group Project will retain 350 jobs for Northern Michigan Residents
Cinnaire, a full-service Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) based in Lansing, MI with offices in five states, recently provided an $11.5M New Market Tax Credit (NMTC) allocation to support the new construction of a 350,000 square foot, state-of-the-art manufacturing facility for EJ Group, Inc. (formerly known as East Jordan Iron Works) in Elmira, MI. EJ Group, Inc. is a leader in designing, manufacturing and distributing access solutions for the infrastructure systems of municipalities, utility companies, private companies, airport and port authorities. EJ Group, Inc. was established in Northern Michigan in 1883 and remains a family owned business.
The new facility is designed to customize operations using the most up-to-date global and manufacturing technologies, better meeting the needs of customers, vendors, and distributors. Its new location will implement best practices in the areas of safety, quality and environmental responsibility and will retain 350 employees in Northern Michigan. EJ has successfully created a culture of loyal, dedicated and passionate employees, who often volunteer their time and energy in the community to help make Northern Michigan a vibrant place to live, work and play. Cinnaire’s investment in the new facility will allow EJ to continue to leverage their substantial economic impact in this area.
“Rural communities often suffer from some of the highest unemployment and poverty rates,” said Mark McDaniel, Cinnaire President & CEO. “Cinnaire has been committed to rural communities in Michigan for 24 years. Investing in EJ perfectly aligns with our goal of revitalizing communities by supporting economic development. At Cinnaire, we know the most important asset of any organization is its people. EJ joins us in sharing that belief. We applaud their commitment to their employees and to Northern Michigan.”
