Project designed to strategically impact Lafayette, IN, low-income families
Cinnaire recently provided a $14M New Market Tax Credit (NMTC) investment to support the development of Intersection Connection, an innovative collaboration between the Lafayette Family YMCA, Ivy Tech Community College and Junior Achievement. Designed to create access to a variety of community services in one convenient location, the 120,000-square foot new facility will provide access to early education and community college support, workforce readiness, health services, community education, quality childcare services and support the creation of 69 new full-time jobs.
The affordable on-site childcare, provided by the YMCA, will allow additional students to enroll in the adjacent Ivy Tech Community College campus, supporting expanded enrollment and student services for the community. The affordable early childhood development programs will provide children with access to state of the art guidance and instruction, prepping them for success in all aspect in life. Junior Achievement will offer financial literacy programs to provide school-age students with tools to encourage fiscal responsibility and workforce preparation. Franciscan St. Elizabeth Health new clinic will provide primary care, community education, physical/occupational therapy and other services.
Intersection Connection will have a monumental impact on the Lafayette community. By creating a single facility that provides numerous programs and services, Intersection Connection will ease the burden on many low-income students and children by encouraging continuing education and health and wellness.
“Intersection Connection is an innovative project that shares in Cinnaire’s holistic approach to creating healthy, sustainable communities,” said Mark McDaniel, Cinnaire President & CEO. “Providing access to critically needed services such as affordable childcare, healthcare and education opportunities will create an extraordinary impact for thousands of Lafayette residents. We share in the development team’s excitement in realizing our vision of revitalizing the Lafayette community by investing in its most important asset – the people.”
