Cinnaire Staff Volunteer to Cleanup Historic Walter French School
Capital Area Housing Partnership (CAHP) recently acquired ownership of the former Walter H. French Junior High School in Lansing, MI, thanks to a donation made by the Louis J. Eyde Family and the George F. Eyde Family. CAHP, a local non-profit development organization, plans to pursue a mixed-use redevelopment of the historic Lansing building, to include a variety of residential options. Cinnaire and the Community Economic Development Association of Michigan (CEDAM) recently joined CAHP to support cleanup efforts at the site. Volunteers from Cinnaire and CEDAM worked to remove overgrown bushes, old fencing and yard waste, bringing CAHP one step closer to the redevelopment of the property.
“Our team enjoyed volunteering with our partners from CAHP and CEDAM to support the cleanup efforts at the Walter French School,” said Mark McDaniel, Cinnaire president & CEO. “We have an unwavering belief that all people deserve the opportunities provided by living in healthy communities. Working together with community minded partners such as CAHP and CEDAM, we can create vibrant, affordable and sustainable neighborhoods. The revitalization of this historic Lansing building will be a catalyst for community and economic development.

The building has a rich history and unique architecture that has played a significant role in Lansing’s educational history.”
