Rick Laber has been with Cinnaire since 2006. He leads the New Ventures and Product Management Group. This Group develops, evaluates and operationalizes new opportunities and runs Cinnaire Lending, New Markets Tax Credits and Title Services. Rick also leads commercial real estate financing efforts through Develop Michigan Inc. (DMI). DMI, formed by Cinnaire and its partner, Development Finance Group provides financing and other capital sources for commercial real estate projects in Michigan, including senior debt, mezzanine financing and preferred equity.
Prior to forming DMI, Rick oversaw a variety of functions at Cinnaire including business development, asset management, underwriting and business lines, including tax credit investing and lending operations.
Before joining Cinnaire, Rick was director of finance with the Michigan State Housing Development Authority. While there, he served in various capacities including chief underwriter, acting deputy director and acting executive director. Rick also worked in the financial institution industry for nine years in various capacities, primarily as chief financial officer. Prior to that, he was a senior manager with the international accounting firm of Ernst & Young.
Rick earned his B.S.B.A. from Central Michigan University.
