Karyn Knaak joined Cinnaire in 2015 and is currently a Vice President in the Business Development group, focusing on marketing our loan products, screening loan opportunities, and working on special projects within Cinnaire Lending related to new products and funding sources (such as the Midwest Housing Loan Fund). Karyn is also a member of Cinnaire’s internal loan committee. Karyn joined Cinnaire after spending 13 years as a Vice President in the Commercial Real Estate division at U.S. Bank, specializing in affordable housing lending within Wisconsin and the upper Midwest. She was responsible for all phases of the lending process, including originating, underwriting, and asset management. Prior to U.S. Bank, Karyn worked at WHEDA underwriting multifamily loans, allocating LIHTC, and as an asset manager. Earlier in her career, she was employed as a commercial real estate appraiser at Appraisal Services and American Appraisal Associates, both located in Milwaukee.
Karyn is currently Board President at Project Home, Inc., a Madison, WI -based nonprofit specializing in weatherization and home repairs, as well as a member of the Board of Directors of Movin’ Out, a Wisconsin-based nonprofit specializing in affordable housing for persons with disabilities. She is also a long-term member of the loan committee for Forward Community Investments, a Wisconsin Based CDFI, and a member of the WI Advisory Committee for Mercy Housing Lakefront, the Midwestern affiliate of Mercy Housing.
Karyn is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a master’s degree in real estate and an undergraduate degree in real estate and marketing and is currently a member of the UW Real Estate Alumni Association.
