Jela Ellefson joined Cinnaire in 2017 as Vice President of Social Capital. In her role, Jela is responsible for development and implementation of fundraising strategies in close collaboration with partners. Jela creates strategic relationships with philanthropy, healthcare, local officials and community development organizations to maximize impact and to create neighborhoods of opportunity.
Prior to Cinnaire, Jela served as the Community Development Director at the Eastern Market Corporation for six years managing district-wide planning and development projects.
Coming to the U.S. from Slovakia, Jela earned her bachelor’s degree in Finance from the University of Detroit Mercy, where she was a scholarship member of the fencing team. Jela was a member of the inaugural 2011 Detroit Revitalization Fellows cohort and in 2016 she completed the Ford Motor Company International Fellowship of 92nd Street Y in New York City focusing on non-profit management and leadership development. She earned her master’s degree in Urban Planning from the University of Southern California.
