James is the Development Manager for Cinnaire Solutions, our in-house development division for nonprofit partners. He focuses on evaluating deal feasibility, mitigating underwriting issues and preparing financial proformas for potential real estate investments. James has a passion for urban planning and affordable housing and he finds it rewarding to work with community-based partners to create meaningful impact and positive change. He strives to be a “jack of all trades” when it comes to real estate development. At any given time, his pipeline of deals often includes multiple LIHTC projects, mixed-use NMTC projects and single family home developments.
James previously served as Community Investment Analyst at the Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago (FHLBC). His expertise includes the FHLBC Affordable Housing Program (AHP), a grant program that provides gap financing to support affordable housing developments. Since joining Cinnaire in 2016, he has worked with our development partners to prepare AHP grant applications on their behalf.
James volunteers on the associate board for Sarah’s Circle, a Chicago-based nonprofit with a mission to serve women who are homeless or at-risk. He earned his Bachelors degree in City/Urban Planning from Ohio State University and his Masters in Urban Planning and Policy from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
